What's Next...

I am convinced that what is happening today is a result of what we did a few months ago. You cannot change the future without planning and executing the plan.

Example: The reason our greeting team is so strong at Barefoot is because our team leader, Mark Conrad, has planned and executed the plan. He does not show up on Sundays and say, "Let me get some people to say hello and to be friendly today."
He talks about it with his team, he prays with his team, he schedules his team and he thinks about future growth with his team. He is gearing up for our next season of ministry right now, not just this coming weekend. This weekend will be a result of his plan, his recruitment, his scheduling and his training that he implemented months ago. If he wants to be somewhere in the future, it starts today. This is how it works... asking, "What's Next!" (Great Job M.C.)

Our church has been growing real fast and we feel as though we are in react mode a lot of times. We have to become proactive in our approach if we are to succeed.

Below are ten things that I am committing to as a leader. These should allow me to be proactive in my leadership rather than reactive.

  1. Ask God about the future and the vision often.
  2. Spend more time with my family.
  3. Allow others to take on leadership roles.
  4. Do less, so I can do more... In other words, do what I am good at and allow others to do what they are good at. This is called teamwork or being the church!
  5. Plan our series well in advance.
  6. Take study breaks to hear from God... rid myself of the white noise.
  7. Work closer with a directional team and our creative team.
  8. Exercise daily... refreshing my body.
  9. Get more leadership into my life so I can get to where I need to be. Some leaders that I would love to meet... Ed Young Jr., Troy Gramling, Perry Noble, Craig Groeschel, and Bishop T.D. Jakes.
  10. Keep growing deeper in my relationship with Jesus.

How about you? Do you want to change the world? What's next for you? How will you change tomorrow? What you are planning and executing today will determine the outcome of your tomorrow.

I have been rolling with the circumstances for a while now. This is not my MO. I am pro-active by nature and am in an organizing mode right now so that I can prioritize and focus on what God has gifted me to do. Right now that means backing off one area (hard for me to say no). My list is very similar to yours. I'll pray for you, pray for me.
