Yesterday was awesome. Kim and I had the entire day together. We just enjoyed ourselves. We started the day off by sleeping in late. Then we went to an awesome restaurant here in South Florida and had lunch. The food and environment were so good, we decided to go back for dinner and dessert after an afternoon of shopping and a movie.
I want to thank the people here at Flamingo for allowing us to have this time together... It's been so refreshing.
We have already learned so much from the leadership here at Flamingo, although there is much more to come. Today, we will have the opportunity to see how they put everything together to pull off the weekend.
I want to remind all leaders that learning from others is vital to your growth as a leader. Here are a few quick things we have learned so far.
1) That having a team to carry out the vision is vital.
2) The loyalty of that team is huge.
3) A big vision requires big risk.
4) Everybody will not agree with where you are going...It is OK to let those people go.
5) Setting and holding to the values and nonnegotiables are vital to the survival of the vision.
I cannot wait to share with you what we learn over the next few days. Thanks to all you Barefooters for allowing us this time to learn and refresh ourselves. You are an awesome Church to serve with!

Glad you guys came, & glad God allowed a neat exchange of encouragement. Your encouragement to me: Never give up on learning. Thank you.
Now, off to Kim's blog...
Thanks for hanging out with us at Flamingo... Had a great time a dinner tonight!
It was so good to meet you both and hear about the cool things God is doing in your life & through you! It was our honor & privilege to hang out with you and talk ministry and life together. You guys are great! (And Kim, I LOVE the earrings! Thanks so much!)
