The Bible says in Joshua 4:14 - " That day the Lord made Joshua a great leader in the eyes of all the Israelites, and for the rest of his life they revered him as much as they had revered Moses."
Joshua became a great leader that day. The bible says... the Lord made Joshua that great leader.
I think this is awesome and God is looking for some great leaders. However, there were some prerequisites for Joshua before he was appointed and anointed leader by God.
Check out what Joshua did before God appointed him leader. Much of it started long before this time... but most of why God appointed Joshua is outlined in Chapter 3. Let me hear your thoughts on why God used Joshua as leader!

First of all, Joshua believed God. He was ready to enter into the promised land when the majority fell prey to fear and unbelief. He is now being validated and the people are looking to him because they are about to go where none of them had gone before (except Joshua).
Leaders believe God. Leaders go in spite of the challenges. Leaders take people where they have never gone before and probably wouldn't go on their own.
For sure, God has made you a leader.
I love the story of Joshua - such a great leader for Jesus! You know, one of the things that stands out to me about why God would've chosen to use Joshua had to do with Joshua's faith in Him. Think about it... all the things that he was instructing people to do were "faith things" - v.5 "consecrate yourselves" (promising them that God would do amazing things among them tomorrow) - v.8 telling the priests to take the ark and stand IN a flooding river - V. 9-13... in all of these things you see a man kinda going out on a limb... no room for a doubter.
It takes a man who KNOWS that He has heard from God to boldly lead people to their promise land - Joshua had proven Himself to be that man and because of that God chose to exalt him (Joshua) so that all would know that He (God) was with him as he was with Moses (the one they had followed for years).
Just some thoughts... thanks for the challenge!
