The Bible clearly teaches that we men need to get with it when it comes to being "The Blanket". We are to be the covering for our families. We can either smother them or bring them warmth and security.
I think God has in mind for us to lead by protecting and providing for our households... not from position and power. When we force following... this leads to rebellion. However, when we serve and sacrifice we find true followers and this is real leadership. God's plan is that we serve and sacrifice... not brutally force our families to follow because of our power and position.
Here are a Dozen ways to be the Blanket...
1) Pray with your family
2) Read the Bible with your family
3) Go to church with your family
4) Admit when your wrong... Be Big about this... we are wrong occassionally
5) Date your Wife
6) Play with your kids
7) Take a day off
8) Take a Vacation this summer
9) Clean the house with your spouse
10) Go to your kids ballgame or dance class
11) Let your children hear you say I love you... to them and their Mom
12) Eat meals together as a family
I know there are more... I would love for you to add to these by posting them in the comments.
Today was a great day at Barefoot Community Church... We gave away a 32" Flat Screen HDTV. Can you do that in Church? Happy Father's Day!

Clay: Dude "you da blanket". Great sermon. The older I get I am learning that I need to take time to take care of myself. I can't take care of my family when I am always running on low. The other thing that helps me with my kids is to try and keep it real. Don't be fake. By being real with them they feel that they can tell me anything. Good Stuff...
