I would if… This is a phrase I hear a lot and we all use a lot.
I would if I had more money.
I would if I had more time.
I would if I lived here or there.
I would if I did not have to work so much.
I would if they would treat me better.
I would if I could have better employees.
I would if I had a better boss.
I would if I felt better.
I would if I had a better marriage.
I would if I had more evidence.
My gosh… If we had all the if’s we would freak out.
God showed up on the planet in skin and the people were still saying “I would if”. Jesus was walking before the very eyes of the people and they still did not believe. In John 5 Jesus told the people… “You carefully study the Scriptures because you think they give eternal life. They do in fact tell about me, but you refuse to come to me to have that life.” Jesus was saying… You would have eternal life if you would trust me.
I think the “I would if’s” come from slackness on our part much of the time. We don’t have enough get up and go about us and we don’t have enough faith in the One and Only.
The enemy will make us think we can’t every time we can. He specializes in this. He came to destroy families, finances, and futures… (Man I’m flowing with the F’s) … He wants us to say I would if. May we be a people who turn the “I would if’s” into I did because Jesus is King and I walk by faith in Him. This brings our Great God glory.
Faith in Christ + obedience by us = removal of the “I would if’s”
