- I live in a great place. People save their money all year long to come to Myrtle Beach for vacation and God allows me to live here and do Kingdom work. What an opportunity!!! One thing I understand about this blessing from God is that He has blessed me so that I can be a blessing to others. God wants to reach the Grand Strand and make the name of Jesus famous here. Guess what… He is going to do that through the local church. God wants to grow His Kingdom here on earth and He is doing that through us… THE CHURCH… WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY!!!
This morning while running on the beautiful beaches of North Myrtle Beach God spoke to my heart about being a part of this great and grand adventure.
It was as He said... Clay you need to stay healthy Spiritually, Emotionally, Physically, and Mentally to lead a movement through the local church… That means discipline and follow through in your life. Chew on that for a while.
Spiritually--- Seek My face and My will in all that you do.
- I cannot ever--- I mean ever--- stop seeking Him and His Kingdom 1st. Pray like crazy—That means talking and listening to God. And read his Word asking questions and being obedient.
Mentally--- Stay Focused.
I have to read and listen to other Christian leaders to help me stay in the game. Leadership is a Huge Calling and I have to stay focused and alert in the midst of the day to day operations of the local church.
My family has to be healthy in these areas too... this allows me to stay healthy. I am so blessed to have a wife who shares the vision of changing the world with me. It is my job to nurture her and my 10 year old son, Cole, each and every day. If there is chaos at home then I cannot function as well as I need to as a leader.
The way to stay healthy mentally is to connect with people who are positive not negative. Negative people will destroy you!!! They can eat you alive... Get away from them. I don’t mean never talk to them or never help them. I mean you can only take small doses of people like this--- Help them but don’t team up with them.
Emotionally – Depend on God’s approval.
Compliments and complaints are like chewing gum… get the flavor out of them and move on. Be a player for an audience of One….
Physically – Stay Healthy.
Exercise 4-5 times a week! Stay healthy – Man... when I don’t do this I feel sluggish. God wants me to be on fire. I have to stay in physical shape if I want to do what He has called me to do. God wants to grow our church…I need to do my part in this area… no excuses… busyness is no excuse… that’s lame. I function at this better in the A.M. so I need to get my rear end out of bed and do this on the top of the morning.
That’s all today… just thinking through how to lead the way God wants me to.
